Funding Cuts Update - March 2011
Six to Ten Percent Possible Cut to SKCAC Funding July 1, 2011
This is a tough legislative session with the need for continued cuts to balance the state budget. The next revenue forecasts will help legislators to know what to expect as they try to balance the 2009-11 biennial budget and plan for the 2011-13 biennium.
Due to some cost saving measures in King County, SKCAC was not cut as significantly on January 1, 2011 as anticipated, although we do plan to see cuts effective July 1, 2011. Unfortunately, because of the cuts, there will be very few new people entering employment services. The unserved lists will continue to grow.
Now is a good time to thank your legislators for services we have and share stories of success and need. This helps them to put a face on the dollars that are being cut. Also, helping family and friends to see that their taxes are going to support valuable programs for people they know and love continues to help put a ‘face’ on taxes.
You can make a difference by attending and inviting others to our annual fundraiser breakfast. Or, visit our donate page for more ways to support SKCAC in providing employment services.
